Our firm is comprised of CPAs, tax advisors and bookkeepers. We have been strong proponents of quality and peer reviews for many years. Our firm has been reviewed by an outside CPA firm every three years since 1979. One of our partners sits on the Board of the New England Peer Review, which oversees the peer reviews of firms in the New England area.
TERESA H. KAJENSKI, CPA
Teresa joined us in 1991 and was certified in 1995. She has an associate’s degree in business from Champlain College and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from St. Michael’s College, graduating Cum Laude.
Teresa has been a director and is a past president of the Vermont Society of CPAs. She is a member of the American Institute and the Vermont Society of CPAs and served on the AICPA’s Governing Council. She is also a board member of the North Country Federal Credit Union Supervisory Committee and the New England Graduate Accounting Study Conference.
Teresa resides in Williston with her spouse, Ken, and daughter. She enjoys being outside as much as possible, whether that be on the lake or on the mountain.

DONALD J. MURRAY, CPA
Don joined us in 1998 and was certified in 1999. He graduated from Webber College in Babson Park, Florida with an associate’s degree in lodging and restaurant management/accounting.
Don is a member of the American Institute and the Vermont Society of CPAs.
Don serves on the Supervisory Committee of the One Credit Union and is a past Chair of the Saint Monica School Board.
Prior to joining us he worked for a large local wholesale company and a public accounting firm.
Don enjoys spending his vacations in Jupiter, Florida where he can hit the links and go fishing.
Don holds Vermont CPA license number 1448.
MICHAEL L. SEGALE, CPA
Mike has worked for the firm since 1982. He was certified in 1984 and has been an owner since 1987. He has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Vermont. As the audit manager for the firm he is involved in almost all of the audits performed by the firm. He prepares business, non-profit and individual tax returns as well as working as a contracted financial manager for various clients.
He is a member of the American Institute and the Vermont Society of CPAs, and is also a member of the Executive Committee for the New England Peer Review. Mike is a member of the Montpelier Elks Club and the Barre/Montpelier Knights of Columbus. He also has coached basketball, baseball and softball in Montpelier.
Mike was born and still lives in Montpelier with his wife, Norma. Both of their children have finished their undergraduate education and are no longer living at home. Mike enjoys traveling, golfing and softball, and spending time outside in the summer.

SHEILA R. VALLEY, CPA
Sheila joined us in 1986 and was certified in 1989. Sheila has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from St. Michael’s College, graduating Magna Cum Laude.
Sheila has been a Director and is a past President of the Vermont Society of CPAs. She is a member of the American Institute and the Vermont Society of CPAs. Sheila is currently serving on the audit committee of the Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains and has served on the Board of Directors for the Vermont Chamber of Commerce. She also serves on the Ethics Committee of the Vermont Society of CPAs.
Sheila enjoys golfing, boating and traveling around the world during her downtime, most recently she has visited Ireland, Peru and Tahiti.

JOHN E. (JEFF) FOTHERGILL, CPA
Jeff joined the firm in 1981 and was a full-time partner from 1985 through 2019. He now enjoys the role of “partner emeritus”, staying involved on a part-time basis in professional matters of interest. He credits his interest in accounting to his mother who was an in-house accountant for several businesses in his hometown of Rutland. He has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Vermont.
Jeff has been a director and president of the Vermont Society of CPAs, and also served two separate terms on the American Institute of CPA’s governing council. He served as trustee and Treasurer of the Kellogg-Hubbard Library in Montpelier for several years.
Jeff frequently speaks to tax professional groups, including regular appearances at the annual University of Vermont Tax School. He has also conducted classes for small businesses, bankers, judges, realtors, attorneys and other CPAs. Jeff works frequently as an expert in matters involving financial issues, and has testified as an expert witness in many Vermont trials.
Jeff and his wife, Candace, enjoy their home in Montpelier and spending time with their adult children and extended families as much as possible.
Jeff has held Vermont CPA license number 472 since 1983.
LINDA MULLEN, CPA
Linda rejoined us in 1997. She was certified in 2006 and has an associate’s degree in accounting from Champlain College.
She is a member of the American Institute and the Vermont Society of CPAs. She also has served as Treasurer for the Central Vermont Humane Society and the Vermont Disaster Animal Response Team.
Prior to rejoining us she worked for another local accounting firm. When not in the office Linda enjoys traveling, reading a good book in the sun and hiking. She also makes therapy visits around Vermont with her dog, Callie.

E. LELA MCCAFFREY, CPA, CFP
Lela joined us in 2004. She was certified in 2006 and has a degree in philosophy from St. Michael’s College. She took a job for a nonprofit as an Office Assistant where she obtained knowledge of their accounting system. Despite the steep learning curve, she found she had a love and a talent for accounting.
Prior to joining us she worked for several non-profit organizations and small businesses. She is a member of the American Institute and the Vermont Society of CPAs. She is Chair of the Student Recruitment Taskforce at the Vermont Society of CPAs.
Lela lives in the woods with her husband, Chris and daughters. She is active in her Daughter’s Girl Scout Troop, loves running and creating things with yarns.

RENEE Y. HRUBOVCAK
Accounting Services Manager
Renee joined us in 2000 with 14 years of accounting experience. Renee became interested in accounting during her first full time job at the age of 16 while working for a local wholesale distributor. She views accounting as more than numbers and values the relationships she cultivates with her clients.
Renee is a Certified Quickbooks Pro Advisor and performs monthly accounting and payroll services for various profit and non-profit entities. She also prepares income tax returns for both individuals and businesses.
She is a Barre native who currently resides with her husband in Williamstown. When not busy in the office or in her garden, she is spending time with her four children and three grandchildren.
Accounting Services Manager
Deb joined the firm in 2017 with 40 years of accounting experience and 25 years managing her own small business. Her passion is promoting the health and success of small businesses through thoughtful planning and meaningful partnerships with clients.
Deb is a longtime member and treasurer of the Green Mountain Dog Club and successfully raised and showed AKC purebred dogs for several years. It was not unusual to have 8-10 dogs and a couple of Himalayan cats in the house while raising her children.
She enjoys beach vacations as well as Rocky Mountain hiking and biking with her children and grandchildren who live in opposing climates around the country.
SARAH L. MYERS, CPA
Sarah joined us in 2012 with over five years of accounting experience. Originally an engineering major in college, she changed her major to accounting her sophomore year after taking an elective accounting course. She has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Champlain College and obtained her CPA license in October 2015. She is a member of the American Institute and the Vermont Society of CPAs.
Sarah lives in Mad River Valley with her family. She can often be found snowboarding, participating in obstacle and 5k races or preparing a new batch of homebrews.

KERRY A. DEMARTINO
Accounting Services Supervisor
Kerry joined us in 2007 after twenty years with a local insurance company. She has a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
Kerry is responsible for providing clients with accounting and payroll services as well as tax return preparation and consultation. She serves as the Treasurer for a local non-profit.
When she is out of the office she spends her time with her husband, Jeff, and their German Shepherds. Kerry is an avid flower gardener and can also be found cheering at local sporting events.
NATHAN A. SEGALE, CPA
Nathan joined us in 2012 as an intern during his senior year at the University of Vermont. He graduated in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting. He always enjoyed studying business and realized while at UVM, accounting was a great way to learn about the variety of businesses out there.
Nathan has deep roots in Montpelier; he grew up in Montpelier and recently purchased a home in town, where he lives with his wife and two dogs, Doc and Bruce (who visits the office sometimes). He enjoys the outdoor lifestyle that Vermont has to offer.
Nathan is a member of the American Institute and the Vermont Society of CPAs.

CHRISTY E. DAY, CPA
Christy joined us in 2016. She worked as an actuary at a local insurance company for a number of years and then returned to her alma mater, the University of Vermont, to earn a master’s degree in accountancy.
She enjoys combining her love of numbers with the opportunity to interact with people and businesses in the local community.
Christy lives in Waterbury and is the treasurer of her condo association. She enjoys outdoor activities such as running, biking, and hiking.

DAVID P. DAURIA
David joined our firm in fall of 2017 after interning with us for two previous tax seasons.
A native of New Jersey, David came to Vermont to attend the University of Vermont where he earned his BS in Business Administration. While at UVM David concentrated on Finance and Accounting and minored in Economics.
David also was an Intramural Sports Supervisor and Referee while at UVM and continues to play basketball in his downtime.
SANDY F. MONTI
Sandy joined us in 1985 and became our firm administrator in 1992. She manages all internal operations and accounting for us as well as working with many clients on accounting and tax matters.
Prior to joining us Sandy owned and co-managed local restaurants.
She is an active member of the Montpelier VFW Women’s Auxiliary and the Montpelier Elks Club. She enjoys volunteering at Bingo and spending time with her family.
Accounting Services Associate
Marci joined us in 2017 after 30 years working in accounting services. Marci enjoys the logic and detail of working with numbers as well as the variety of tailoring her work to meet the needs of her clients.
Marci is from Montpelier but currently resides with her husband, daughter and dog, Copper, in Warren. In her free time, she likes to kayak on Blueberry Lake, cook and create pottery.
JENNIFER M. GAMBLER-DIEGO
Accounting Services Associate
Jennifer joined us in 2015 after working in the Banking/Finance sector for over 20 years. She has a love for numbers which she is continuing by pursuing her Associate’s Degree.
She resides in Barre Town with her family and enjoys spending her time outside.

Stacie joined the firm in 2017 with 15 years of various accounting work and is a graduate of Champlain College. Stacie is drawn to bookkeeping because of the day to day changes she faces and the stratification she receives from trying things out.
Originally from New Hampshire, Stacie has been in Vermont for 24 years. She lives in Essex Junction with her two twin boys.
MARIANN P. TILTON
Mariann joined us in 2010 after working for another local accounting firm. Originally from Philadelphia, she has a bachelor’s degree in Communication from LaSalle University.
Mariann handles our paperless system and client requests.
When she is not at the office she spends time with her husband, daughter, dog and three cats. Mariann is a mentor with a local running program for women.
TONYA F. LING
Support Staff Assistant
Tonya joined us in 2017 after over 19 years working at a local financial firm. She enjoys client service and believes in putting the client first. Tonya grew up in Greensboro, Vermont, on a dairy farm and holds an Associate’s degree in Accounting.
When she is not at the office she spends time staying active by running and hiking.
